How Green Is My World
Two weeks ago as I was racheting up my anxiety level and trying to make myself feel better about all the outside stuff I wasn't going to be able to accomplish this year, I thought the very least I could do would be to fertilize the grass to bring that healthy, verdant glow of summer to the house. I was able to get a liberal application on right before it rained and then feeling as though I'd done something good, I promptly forgot about it to make room for P/E ratios and bond valuations.
Then last weekend Jeff and I jetted back to Ohio for Cousin Ben's wedding where we got to squeeze on Neice Allison, meet new Cousin Cole, and have a group picture taken which meant the grass got left to its own devices while we were gone. This is what we came back to yesterday.

Look at your short and sassy hair. My goodness!
I was thinking the same thing--Beau, you should be enjoying your lustrous, thick, wavy, slopes-of-Gilead hair! That close-cropped nonsense is for balding-but-in-denial folks like me (and Bruce Willis).
Great picture, though--flattering natural lighting really is God's greatest gift to the world.
I remember the time in the late 70's when your folks developed a friendship with the local founder of a lawn care company called Perf a Lawn. The owner, a pretty funny guy, got your Dad to go for one of those annual contracts that supplies a set # of applications of weed killer and fertilizer. Pretty soon your family yard was just about perfect, thick, lush, and proliferating at a phenomenal rate. Your Mom and Dad began to complain about how often they had to mow, like every other day or so. At the end of the summer it came out that Perf a Lawn was sneaking in at unannounced times, and applying unusual amounts of fertilizer, thus contributing to the sinus troubles you all developed (and suffer from to this day) from mowing the yards constantly.
loved the pics and i notice even the violets in the grass pic seem huge. ha! we were supposed to talk about san francisco but never did. worse, i dont know when your trip is so maybe this is redundant. apologies if so. s.f. is a walking city and/or trolleys and buses. forget a car if possible. places to see: golden gate park, china town, eat at hoy goy loys if its still there. it has the worlds most obnoxious waiters. in fact look around for any ethnic food restaurants because there is wonderful food to be had everywhere. im sure s.f. shares that w/ new york.there used to be a basque restaurant that served food "family style" meanings everyone eats at large tables and in courses that they prepare. i dont remember actually ordering anything specific. we just ate what they put in front of us. wonderful. fishermans wharf, ghirardelli square, pronounced 'gearardelli' the italian way. the chocolate is wonderful. coit tower, very phalic, an eccentric old lady circa 1920 loved fireman and had the tower built to resemble a fire hose (or something) ride a trolley if you can that can be a life altering experience all by its self. and when you ride the buses have exact change ready and never look directly at the driver or he will kill you. have fun!
Niece Allison has obviously inherited your attitude! And pay no attention to Max--the hair looks great!
When are your aunts going to get their own blog and share all the family stories that you're holding out on us?
cool, it's like your own private pasture!
One of the things that just blew me away going up to Fishkill for the symposium I taught at a couple of weeks ago was how unbelievably LUSH everything was looking. Just like your lawn.
